Benefits of Participating in the MERITS Program
MERITS Community: Students who participate in MERITS become part of a social and educational community that is fun, supportive and challenging!
Peer Advisors: Peer Advisors are trained para-professionals who will meet with students twice a month to discuss course progress, academic concerns, success strategies and more. Peer advisors are a valuable resource and each student will have a designated peer advisor.
Book Scholarships: MERITS students earn points for doing things like visiting academic advisors, joining a club or organization and getting good grades. Points are accumulated towards a book scholarship at the end of the year.
UI Computer Center: Offered through OSCR, this computer center houses the latest computers as well as a printing station.
UI Student Lounge: The UI Lounge, located in Nugent 103, is a flexible student space for studying, meeting with PA’s, relaxing and socializing.
Listservs: Stay informed of MERITS & UA events, job opportunities, scholarships, special programs, and other news through our listserv.
Student Conference Sponsorships: Get valuable leadership training at the National Collegiate Leadership Conference. Select students are sponsored free of charge.
